Baseball Manitoba would like to congratulate Dean McConnell on winning the Winnipeg Goldeyes Coach of the Month for May 2018. McConnell has been coaching for over three years, and currently coaches the North Winnipeg Marauders which is a U15 AA team.
"His discipline and structure are exactly what all sports should have," said his nominator. "His praise is what pushes [his players] to want to do nothing but succeed."
McConnell goes above and beyond for his team.
"I could go on and on about all of the little things he does that makes [his players] respect him beyond belief," said his nominator.
Here is a quote sent in by his nominator that McConnell sent out in an email to his players' parents in preparation for a tournament.
"Some of [the players'] greatest lessons, memories and appreciation for each other, will happen between games. Championship teams are built on and off the field. Often, mutual respect, empathy and trust are the things that are developed off the field. We expect these skills will serve them well as teammates and young adults, not only in baseball but in life. I hope this provides an insight into North Winnipeg Marauders’ tournament philosophy."
Congratulations again to the very deserving Coach Dean McConnell.
