This weekend brings an exciting event for baseball fans in Manitoba. Starting on August 9th, 2018, the 2018 21U Women's Invitational Championships will begin. Team Manitoba will play at 9 am, the opening ceremonies starting at 6 pm, and a weekend full of competitive games will follow. The event is being held in Stonewall, Manitoba, and many talented female players are attending.
Sarah Moir, Brittney Langlais, and Katie Heppner are impressive baseball players from Manitoba. They are all pitchers who attended the National Team Selection Camp at the Baseball Canada Women’s Open Championship on the Prospects Team in Montreal from July 5th to the 8th of this year. All three did a great job at the tournament and are currently preparing for the upcoming event this weekend.

"To prepare for the tryouts over the winter I would go to Homerun Sports Training Center around two to three times a week and also go to NRG Athletes Therapy Fitness to work with a trainer in the gym," said Langlais.
Langlais and Moir already made history earlier this year when they were the first two female pitchers going against each other in the AAA boys league in Manitoba. Langlais pitches for the North Winnipeg Pirates, and Moir pitches for the Winnipeg South Chiefs. Heppner isn't a stranger to high-level baseball either, she has attended the National Baseball Championships three times in her baseball career.

"We’re having long practices at least once a week now that the tournament is coming up," says Langlais.

The team representing Manitoba at the 2018 21U Women's Invitational Championships consists of some of the best female baseball players from all over the province. Moir is from Winnipeg, Heppner is from Winkler, and Langlais is from Garson. All the players involved have worked hard to get to this point, and Baseball Manitoba wishes them, as well as all the coaches, volunteers, and more, a rewarding baseball experience this weekend in Stonewall.
