This past Saturday we had our 2019 Provincial Grand Slam Jamboree and celebrated minor baseball in Manitoba with the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
In the morning, 13 Grand Slam teams participated in a day of baseball at Shaw Park. Grand Slam is the official 9U program for Baseball Manitoba and is designed to promote physical development of children through the game of baseball.
After the games were finished, all teams were welcome to take part in a parade around the infield before the Goldeyes game in the evening.
The 2019 Subway Baseball Buddies program introduced multiple players one-by-one to the crowd at Shaw Park. They joined the Goldeyes starters on-field during their own team intro and the National Anthems, and the Goldeyes players autographed their certificates.
Baseball Manitoba's President, Tony Siemens, threw the ceremonial first pitch.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes helped us celebrate minor baseball in Manitoba by wearing special Baseball Manitoba jerseys and caps.
The Goldeyes went on to defeat the St. Paul Saints in an exciting walk-off finish. The final score of the game was 7-6.
We want to give a big thank you to the Winnipeg Goldeyes for helping us celebrate, and to all of you who came out and supported us at the game. It was a great day for baseball in Manitoba and we hope everyone enjoyed it!
