Pitch Hit and Run

Major League Baseball Pitch Hit & Run is a free event that provides boys and girls, ages 7 to 14, an opportunity to showcase their baseball skills, while earning a chance to attend and perform during the MLB World Series!

Athletes are tested, and their measurements are recorded. Based on their scores, they advance from a local event to a Team Championship held in MLB stadiums. Top scores then qualify for an all-expenses-paid trip for two to compete at Finals, which is hosted at the World Series.

HOW IT WORKS:

Athletes compete in events hosted in their local areas in the following divisions:

Baseball Division:
7-8 Age Division
9-10 Age Division
11-12 Age Division
13-14 Age Division

Pitch: Athletes are tested on the accuracy of their throw. They get five attempts to hit the strike zone from a designated pitching line. If any portion of the target is hit, it counts toward the athlete’s total points. Each time they hit the target they receive 50 points, 100 points for a bullseye.

Hit: Athletes hit the ball off a tee as far as possible. They can adjust the tee to their desired height, and they receive 5 tries. Each ball receives points depending on what zone it lands in -- the score is based off where it lands, not where it rolls.

Run: Athletes are measured to see how quickly they can run from home to first base. Each participant gets two attempts to run, and their fastest score is recorded.

Athletes receive an overall score, which determines if they can advance to the Team Championship.

Winners who go to the Team Championships are put in a pool with other Team Championship winners, and the highest scores receive an all-expense paid trip for them and one guardian to the Finals, which takes place during the 2024 MLB World Series.
