Register as an Umpire

Welcome! Follow the steps below to become a certified umpire in Manitoba.

Step 1: Register as an Umpire (Required First)

All umpires, at all levels, must complete online registration through RAMP Interactive before signing up for an umpire clinic.

All umpires 18 years and older must upload a Criminal Record Check and Respect in Sport certificate as part of their registration:

• Criminal Record Check (CRC) - Valid for 5 Years

• Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders - Valid for 5 Years

Step 2: Attend an Umpire Clinic 

To become a certified umpire in Manitoba, you must be at least 12 years old at the time you attend a clinic.

Once you have completed Step 1 (registration), you can register for a clinic:

Level 1 & 2 Umpires will be required to attend both a virtual and in-person clinic.  

The virtual clinic will be the theory portion of certification and the in-person clinic will be the practical portion of certification.

You are required to sign up for both Virtual and In-Person Clinics.

Umpire Levels and Requirements

Baseball umpiring includes five levels, with different requirements and expectations at each level.

Umpire Levels & Requirements

Level 1 ($75)

• No previous experience required

• Minimum age: 12

• Attendance at a Level 1 Clinic is required

• No examination or evaluation required

• Eligible for House League baseball up to and including 13U

• Clinic attendance is required annually to maintain status

Level 2 ($85)

• Must hold Level 1 certification for a minimum of two years

• Attendance at a Level 2 Clinic is required

• Annual examination with a minimum passing grade of 60%

• Eligible for Provincial baseball up to and including 18U

• Clinic attendance is required annually to maintain status

Level 3 ($125)

• Must hold Level 2 certification for a minimum of three years

• Must be 18 years of age or older

• Annual Level 3 examination required

• Attendance at a Level 3 Clinic 

• Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders is required

• Minimum examination mark of 76%

• Base and plate evaluations are recommended

• Eligible for all levels of Provincial baseball

• Annual registration and exam submission required to maintain status

Level 4 ($300)

• Must hold Level 3 certification for a minimum of one year

• Attendance at a Level 4 Clinic by invitation only (evaluation required prior to invitation)

• Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders is required

• Minimum examination mark of 86%

• Successful completion of one base and one plate evaluation required

• Eligible for all levels of Baseball in Canada

• Annual clinic attendance and evaluations required to maintain status

Level 5 ($300)

• Attendance at a Level 5 Clinic by invitation only

• Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders is required

• Minimum examination mark of 86%

• Successful completion of one base and one plate evaluation required

• Eligible for all levels of International baseball

• Annual clinic attendance and evaluations required to maintain status
