Tony Siemens - Baseball Manitoba Past President

Oct. 26, 2022

This past weekend Baseball Manitoba held its Semi-Annual General Meeting in Brandon, Manitoba. Every year, a portion of this meeting is reserved for the election of officers for our Management Committee positions. One of the positions up for election this year was Baseball Manitoba’s President.

There were two candidates, Tony Siemens, Baseball Manitoba’s President since 2014, and Roger Langlais, President of North Winnipeg Minor Baseball since 2015.

After each had a chance to speak to the room, Associations voted and the results were calculated.

The announcement was made by Winston Smith, Baseball Manitoba’s VP of Policy.

Roger Langlais is Baseball Manitoba’s new President. His term will begin January 1, 2023.

Tony graciously welcomed Roger after the announcement was made.

“Congratulations Roger, I didn’t really want to say this [earlier during my address] but I’m a big Roger fan. Roger has contributed to a lot of great things within Baseball Manitoba,” said Tony.

Tony will complete his term as President in the coming months, but before he moves into his new role as Past President, all of us at Baseball Manitoba want to pay our respects for a job well done.

Tony began his affiliation with Baseball Manitoba back in the early 2000s when he became an umpire, which also sparked within him a new love for the sport.

“It has been a pleasure to work alongside Tony, who has been a mainstay in the organization for over a decade. I am forever grateful to him for being a part of the hiring committee that gave me the opportunity to act as the Executive Director. We have worked together through some difficult times over the past few years, always connecting on our passion for the game,” said Jason Miller, Baseball Manitoba Executive Director.

Tony joined Baseball Manitoba’s Executive Committee as the VP of Competition in 2007 and held that role for seven years until he was elected as President in 2014. He completed his time in both positions with dignity and regard for his fellow board and community members.

All of us at Baseball Manitoba want to thank Tony for all his time, effort, and dedication to the sport of baseball in Manitoba. We have gained a fantastic past president and we look forward to continuing to work with him in this new role.
